The set list was extraordinary, nearly everything I wanted to hear and the news songs are incredible.

Just an experience for the senses which I’ll never forget.

As most every reviewer agrees, the show was everything I hoped for, and much more.

Highlights for me were Fljótavik, E-Bow, Varúd, and Kveikur.

After Fljótavik, I said, “that number alone, was worth the price of the ticket and the effort to get to the show.” And then they played E-Bow. And then Varúd. And then Hoppípolla, well you get the idea. It was truly a greatest hits concert.

I completely agree with those reviewers who wrote that they can’t wait to hear the Kevikur album! Sorry, cd. For certain, Kveikur (the song) and Brennisteinn were both exceptional, and seemed completely integral to the show. They didn’t at all feel like they were added on to tease us for the upcoming release of the new cd.

If you’ve read through many reviews on this site, you may have run across stories shared telling how this Sigur Rós song or that one is important to the reviewer and his wife, a few, for instance, were played at their weddings. Last night, many times I saw couples in the audience hug during song intros. Absolutely cute!

If you haven’t seen Sigur Rós live, do yourself a favor and just buy your tickets. Most emphatically, you need to see the show.

I’m not sure how often the band sees these reviews, but I hope that they know that their hard work, and all the nights that they spend away from their loved ones during the tour, are much appreciated.

Incredible show! The video/lighting portion blew me away. Loved every second of it! I’m a long time fan and this was my first timing seeing the band live. It is well worth it!! Come to Denver as often as possible! We have direct flights from Iceland now!

It was my first time seeing Sigur Rós but I think they have been in Denver about 4 or 5 times if I am not mistaken. Ever since 7th grade I have been dying to see them, so this show was important to me in so many different ways.

But what can I say? The show was absolutely spectacular. Sigur Rós is the only band that can but a crowd of about 3000 people in complete silence, absolutely stricken with awe.

Highlights, in my opinion, were Festival, Brennisteinn, and Popplagid. Jonsí’s voice was absolutely beautiful the entire show and the addition of the violin and trumpet sections really improved the experience further.

I’ve been to many concerts, but this will always be the one I remember.

The entire pure poetic audio performance, from the beginning to the end, much resembeled many of your songs, more specifically Starlafur. The entire theatrical performance built and built then had the “calm before the storm” moment where it exploded into a perfect ending of both audio and visual tones. The industrial sounds dancing with natrual sounds emulated much of the lifestyle of Denver, Co. I found myself at times wiping away a tear from a recourring memory that your music has brought back and without no fault of your own, emotions engulfed a person that shows very little emotion. It is good to shed a tear amungst 8,000 fans. It is seldom that we see thousnds of fans blanketed in complete silence, packed into an american venue but that’s the beauty of your music, it brings out the silence in us. I especially felt honored to share this experience with my friend were often at times she looked at me with an amazing smile and had the body language that she felt as if she was home. There’s a reason why your my favorite experience everytime I get to listen to your band, be by CD or live. Last night was a reassurance of that reason. Thank you so much for your performance and a happy birthday to your bassist. Much love for the rest of your tour.

I am in my late 50s and am seriously thinking of selling everything and becoming a Sigur Ros groupie, setting up my HQ in Iceland and traveling the world. It’s the only rock music I know that rocks your upper chakras into transcendence and visionary joy – Sigur Ros’s compositions (they’re so much more than songs) are not about sex and good times like so much rock – but about life in all its messy texture, vast emotional range and nuance, jaw-dropping beauty, violence and fear, sexy magic, and deep, unknowable mysteries. The word “awesome” is way overused but I felt awe and joy and stunned silence. Their musicianship, stagecraft, and mastery is only growing iwth the year. Jonsi & gang, let me know if you need a matronly groupie with a loving heart and an interesting & useful set of life skills.

I concluded last night that I will ask that the music of Sigur Ros be played at my funeral. Although, I have to admit, my life is not as spectacular as the music. But what better way to be memorialized than to have the sonic beauty of Sigur Ros take you out of this world.

Brilliant show. Thank you so much for a wonderful night.

That was by far my favorite concert to date! Thank all of you beautiful people for giving such an amazing, life-changing performance. I love all of you and I love what you do. I hope to someday see you perform in your homeland.

If only I had gotten up off the chair and had the cajones to introduce myself to the band in the lounge after the show.

    Takk,

What can i say…Sigur Ros you guys were fabulous….infinity and beyond the best ever group i have ever seen & heard. I wish you guys the best of luck through out the rest of your tour. This was my 2nd time seeing you. I saw you guys last at Red rocks which rocked best place to see any concert ! But there is one down fall on this choice of arena. 1st Bank was not a good choice. I was in section 116 row 4 and like most section seats you are looking straight at the floor where everyone is standing and in order to see the stage you have to turn your body to the side move your head either to the left or right depending where your sitting and not to mention depending if the person next to you is really tall or big you would have a hard time viewing any show on stage and i am 5″10. So just an FYI… on the seating arrangement for concerts at 1st Bank, it’s just plain awful !!!. Other then that Sigur ros Rocks !

After waiting for so long to see you, the moment finally arrived… and it exceeded my expectations! Your music is the inspiration behind my desire to visit Iceland. I was disappointed to miss you at Iceland Airwaves last year. I hope that you will return this November!

I left the show, went to sleep, and then dreamed of the music all night. I think I got two concerts for the price of one.

Forgive the cliche, but seeing you play is probably the most spiritual experience I have ever had.

  • Renae N

    says:

The first time I saw Sigur Ros was in February of 2006 at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They played 2 shows back to back. I had already been a fan for many years at that point, and the show was stunning. The crowd at Calvin was intuitive and appropriate, knowing when to clap and cheer and when to be quiet.

Compared to that show, the Denver crowd was a bit unruly. My husband and I had some college girls behind us who particularly spoke loudly through the first part of the show. He asked them to be quiet, though, and they thankfully respected his request. I noticed plenty of other hooting and holler and whistling by other concert-goers at times when it would have been more appropriate to be silent. I don’t really blame them, I decided part way through the show. Concerts are usually raucous and you get rewarded by the artist the noisier and more excitable you are (and what fun those shows are!). I felt that some had a hard time adjusting to this. I was still amazed at the ability of the band to calm the distractibility and chatter of the crowd into a hushed silence. That is the power of Sigur Ros.

I, like other reviewers, found myself shedding happy tears as I saw songs played that have accompanied me through the happiest times in my life, and those times of deepest grief and sadness. It was cathartic and spiritual for many of us. I enjoyed the older stuff the most, like Ny Batteri, Olsen Olsen, Vaka and E-bow. But I also can’t deny the power and beauty of the newer, darker stuff like Brennistienn.

Sigur Ros communicates beauty, calm and gentleness universally. What a joy to see them. I hope I don’t have to wait another 7 years to see Sigur Ros again.

Un-real. One of the most beautifully power musical performances I have ever seen. My GF cried through Vaka. The shrooms took off during the middle of Glósóli and the Popplagið closer melted my face off. Jonsi you are a beautiful spirit. Thank you!

Wow, what an amazing show! The first time I saw sigur ros was in Boise Idaho in 2006. My husband and were only just dating at the time and had traveled from Salt Lake to see the show. We hurried back from Boise so we could see them in Utah the next day. It was during that trip we formed deep feelings for each other and were married later that year (of course playing sigur ros at our wedding). We also had the chance to see them in Salt Lake in 2008. That show was so beautiful, the light show was incredible and they even dropped confetti from the ceiling on the stage and the crowd. Every time I have seen them in concert I have been blown away and this show was no exception. The lights were fantastic and the videos were breathtaking. I was brought to tears by older songs with so many memories tied to them and thrilled to hear a couple of songs from the new album. I am so happy we made the voyage to Denver to see this show. It was such a great experience for my husband and me. Thank you, thank you, for taking time to tour and putting on such a wonderful show!

There were several times were I wanted to weep because this show was so transcendent and awe inspiring. I have been to a lot of concert, but there is NOTHING that can compare with a live sigur ros show. I was left speechless. If you haven’t experienced this band live, please, do so ASAP. You will not regret it.
