fan review
bournemouth ..... hopelessly bad choice of venue, one entrance at the side, bad acoustics, low stage, no seated area.

famr.... really poor copy band, four "songs" over the course of 40 minutes, who cares if they sound like mogwai, explosions or whoever, predictable song constructs made for an annoyingly dull start to the evening.

sigur ros...now heres the sad news, they are sorely lacking the accompanying musicians they incorporated into their past sets over the last 5 years or so, with a few exceptions.

not only does this exclude a lot of songs they could perform with strings, but also makes for rather messy, incomplete stabs at songs "adapted" for the four piece. of course the crowd went wild for hoppipolla, but then thats the one tune everybody knows and "loves" (my least favourite),and for the med bodnasar coda that ensues the audience were invited to sing along, this was naff and did'nt work, 2 minutes of half hearted murmuring later my misery ended. hafssol was a squalling mess with george throwing his drumstick down in disgust. jonsi seemed to enjoy himself, but kjartan and orri were coasting through the whole show.

"stripped down"is not a selling point, it means less.

and no, less is not more.

one final point, the last tour i saw sigur ros they had in excess of 12 musicians, this time only 4, so how come the ticket prices were the same cost,if not more

fan review
i was delighted to see sigur ros at the bic on 08/11/08.

i am a big fan anyway, but was very impressed with the quality of their performance.

it is obvious that the band are of a high calibre and are able to recreate recorded quality in a live environment.

my judgement of the concert is 'excellent', however it could have been 'awesome'. their music is enhanced with the addition of strings and brass which is so often a part of their more local concerts and dvd performances.

i realise that the bic did not provide a large venue, but i longed to have the drummers during the performance of gobblgigook.

hippipolla would also have been fantastic with the addition of the strings and brass.

dispite this the performance was supurb and the aformentioned songs were still of a very high quality.

i was also impressed by the range of ages in the audience. as a 52 year old myself, it was great not to feel like a freak.

in conclusion i think sigur ros are an exceptional talent, who could easily transform their live performances to the truely spectacular. maybe they could use arcade fire as a benchmark.

i will without doubt, go and see them again, and will continue to purchase all that they release.

p.s, their choice of support band was excellent as well.
