i was blown away once again by the fantastic sigur ros at colston hall on friday night. the lack of the amiina and brass players enhanced the sound of their music more than i could have imagined. the sound was raw, breathtaking and indisputably sigur ros. the light show and films projected behind the band added to the surreal experience of being at one of their concerts. i also loved the way the cameras were focussed on the band members and shown in enlarged, distorted images on the screen behind. this was a visual treat as well as an aural spectacular. highlight was georg's hypnotically rhythmical hitting of his guitar with a drumstick(?)- not even sure how to describe it. i was completely enthralled by this and the images projected behind. once again the boys from iceland made my trip to see them so worthwhile and i will live happily off my buzz and excitement for ages.
i also really enjoyed for a minor reflection and look forward to hearing their sound develop.loved the dresses as well!

just a quick note to say how much both my son and myself enjoyed the concert friday night.
my son is 9 years old and his name is owen. he loves sigur ros and this was a concert he was so looking forward to.
we met some friends in bristol before the concert and went to the pub for a few beers. my son had to hide under the table as he was under 18 years of age and the land lady wanted to kick us out.
we got to the hall and the excitement was really building up. we missed the support slot but were there ready for the main act.
i saw the band play in london during the summer at the westminster methodist hall and it completely blew me away. i have been going to concerts for over 20 years and seen u2 in the joshua tree days in paris, saw oasis when they were a support group, saw the verve supporting the black crowes, saw simple minds when they were good.....but that night in london was something so special.
i just brought the special edition of með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust and was thrilled that my name was in there and also in one of the photos from the london concert where the confetti was coming down (we were in the balcony).
i was there with two friends and we were all blown away.
i wondered if bristol could be as good....i was not dissappointed. it was great to see the band performing as a 4-piece, really stripped back from some of the pomp and pagentry i had seen in london. my son was on my shoulders/back for the entire set. we were about 20-30 feet from the stage and he was bouncing in my arms all the way through.
i am not going to go into great detail about what stood out and why, i just know that you helped a dad and his son have one of the best nights together where they were both lost in the splendour of the event and will never forget the moments they shared.
the whole audience seemed to stand in completeamazement about what they were witnessing. some of us have been spoilt before, but for others, you could just here the amazement in their conversations and voices....how did they do that??
in summary, a great concert from a great band who never cease to amaze. it is impossible to put into words how the performance makes you feel, and you can never describe to anyone else who was not there...they just would not understand. i think it just helps to uncover such senses and emotions that remain deeply hidden in people, and with the music, these all come flooding out.
thank you to the band for a brilliant performance and from my son, he says..."it was the best gig of his life"
p.s i loved festival and sæglópur and my son loved gobbledigook.
