that was easily one of the best live musical performances i have ever witnessed. they gave it all to you and i appreciate that a great deal. great vibrations, great energy. i will see you in the future if you are anywhere within 500 miles. good luck and stay healthy.

"...sigur ros in portland... the way life should be!..."
it was a monday afternoon and here i found myself driving into a state that i had only read about in school just to see sigur ros. i found it amusing to read the sign that said," welcome to maine: the way life should be!". i was excited to find that i was the first to arrive extremely early since it was a general admission show. i had the opportunity to meet many new friends in line just before the show outside the state theater as we all anticipated the evening while we waited in the cold weather.
i was even more excited about the fact that i was right in front with nothing between me and the stage. i was a bit surprised to find that the venue was very small which reminded me of the las vegas show at the joint. amina opened the evening with their beautiful songs of which the crowd also seemed to enjoy. the ladies seemed to be enjoying themselves as they enlightened the crowd with their unique sounds and beats.
when the lights went off and sigur ros took the stage, the crowd roared with enthusiasm as we all were about to witness the greatest show on earth! glósóli was the opening track followed by the unforgettable ný batterí. "amazing" could not even begin to describe how sćglópur sounded as orri pounded on his drumkit like the mad genius that he is. i was happy to hear olsen olsen again as one of the veteran tracks of ágćtis byrjun. but the highlight of the night was the fact that i was a part of sigur ros history as they performed svo hljótt and heysátan for the first time in the united states.
i almost shed a tear when orri, kjartan, georg, and jonsi came together to play heysátan. i remembered kjartan and jonsi looking at each other and smiling while playing as if they were satisfied with how it sounded. after the show i got to chat with orri's wife lukka at the toothfaries stand which was a delight.
this time i decided to tough out the cold weather and wait by the busses for the band to come out. i was lucky enough to take a pic with both kjartan and maria from amina who were very nice. i even told jonsi that i had made the trip from texas for the show as he responded with "wow that's cool!"
as i drifted into sleep later that night i could hear heysátan echoing in my mind... what an amazing day it was!
less than 24 hours till the boston show... takk...
