Efterklang
So i've just gotten into this band... Magnificent.
I've only got the tracks available on their website but i'm gonna buy a couple of albums today. Any recommendations?
So far from the tracks i've heard, i might get 'Springer', 'Tripper' or 'Parades'....
tripper is their best work.
the new song: mirror mirror is the best song ever from efterklang

Cool... Just bought Tripper.
Go see them live, if you get the chance! One of the best live bands ever! Parades is great, so is Springer.
Im gutted that i went to Roskilde last year and didn't know who they were then...
Best band I saw last year, by a distance (though I didn't get to an SR gig - boo). The addition of Peter Broderick to their live set up is an
unbelievably huge plus.
Release-wise, everything they've done is great, but I think their best is Under Giant Trees.
I love this band, everything they've released is great but my personal fave has to be Parades
Looks like i'm gonna have to get them all. Everyone says something different.
I will get them all... Maybe not this pay.
Under Giant Trees and Tripper for me!
UGT still astounds me everytime I hear it, Jojo was the first thing I heard... a video on their myspace page about 2/3 years ago. Watch it.
Saw peter broderick last night too, amazing musician.
they are the best live band and very nice people to boot.
I forgot about this which was posted on another thread - the Efterklang Tour EP from last year. It's a really good complement to the studio albums,
and their sound is a lot stronger live.
This is the correct tracklist, but I think Caravan and Chapter 6 have been tagged the wrong way round on the actual file...
1. Mirador - Live At Domino Festival At AB, Brussels, Belgium 10.04.08
2. Mirror Mirror - Live At Nordklang Festival, St. Gallen, Switzerland 16.02.08
3. Step Aside - Live At Motel Mozaique, Rotterdam, Netherlands 12.04.08
4. Chapter 6 - Live At Ekko, Utrecht, Netherlands 13.04.08
5. Caravan - Live At Motel Mozaique, Rotterdam, Netherlands 12.04.08
6. Cutting Ice To Snow - Live At Queen Elizabeth Hall, London, UK 02.04.08

It really is. But i never managed to listen the entire album..the beats are getting on my nerves..
I've now got Tripper, Parades and Under Giant Trees...
Tripper is definitely the best so far...
^ If you enjoy Tripper the best, you'll also love the 5-track Springer EP.

STOP PRESS… GREAT NEWS… (well, it is if you live near Leeds, haha)
Last September, Efterklang performed Parades with the full backing of the Danish National Chamber Orchestra in Copenhagen. And a mighty fine show it
was too, by all accounts.
Well, it’s just been announced that they’re at it again, and as part of the Fuse Leeds festival Efterklang will be performing Parades in full, backed
by the world renowned Britten Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra, at the Leeds O2 Academy on Saturday 25th April.
Tickets £17.50 and available now. Booked mine already – woo hoo, spread the word!

Well closer to leeds than most on the board. My thinking cap is officially on...

way ahead of time, and then forget about it on the day. “Idiot” doesn’t even come close to describing it.

I love Efterklang. Looking forward to seeing them at End Of The Road Festival.
Wonder if they'll do any gigs in London around the same time as that Leeds gig. Ooh Orchestra.

I forgot all about this, until they sent an email about it again today. It excited me a bit, and so I've booked a coach from London, and a hotel
too. Not bought tickets yet, as the website wasn't working when I tried- so will have to try and ring up tomorrow. Didn't look like many tickets
had been sold so far though!

Bump - it's this Saturday night!
| quote: | from the Efterklang website
We are very exited and happy because of our upcoming Performing Parades concert this month in Leeds. We will play our latest album Parades in its
entirety just like we did last fall in Copenhagen with The Danish National Chamber Orchestra.
This time we will play with Britten Sinfonia and we look forward to it! We will be 39 musicians on stage and it is pure bliss that we can play this
special concert again. We have been invited by the Fuse Festival to do this and we can´t thank those guys enough! |
Roll up, don't delay, tickets are selling like hot cakes... (er, honest)
I cannot see them selling many tickets in Leeds tbh...
If it were in London maybe. I guess cos Leaf Label is based in Leeds...
I'd love to go but can't get up to Leeds which sucks...

Yeah, I think you're probably right. I'm slightly worried that if there's 39 musicians on the stage that they could very well outnumber the
audience...
I hope it doesn't put them off in wanting to try it again though. It would easily have been a success in London, but still, I don't mind the trip
up to go see it at Leeds- will make it seem more of an event (albeit a bit tiring!).
Wonder if they'll have any good support acts. Gosh I'd love Slaraffenland, although they're just on Efterklang's label and not the Leaf Label.
How many people does the Leeds Academy hold???
If they have 39 musicians on stage that all expect to be paid, especially if they are hired, it may be a case of beans on toast for the summer...

@ airboy (and anyone else going) - for god's sake don't be late. I've just had an email back from the FuseLeeds people saying the performance will
start at 7pm prompt (!), with a short set from the Britten Sinfonia before Efterklang join them to perform Parades. They expect the night to be
finished by 8.45pm.
Fucking glad I asked - originally I wasn't planning to even get there 'til about 8pm...

I didn't see this post, but luckily we were intending on getting thre early (I'm the tallish (at least compared to the tiny old lady to my right)
chap with the long hair right at the front). We got our tickets from the Playhouse site, and their tickets said 7pm start (although when we went to
go in, the bouncers didn't recognise them as legitimate tickets until they had to go check with a manager!).
But yes, the gig was excellent. I'm watching one of your videos now, and it's bringing back some great memories. Your video seems to have come out
quite well! Will have to watch the second one this evening. We also filmed another song, which I'll hopefully put up on youtube this evening or
sometime soon.
Shame there wasn't an encore, but it was still a pretty decent hour long performance. and very glad that the venue seemed respectively filled up!
Well worth the 4+ hour coach journey each way and hotel costs. Excellent gig.

Efterklang and bs are also playing at the Barbican on the 28th October! tickets available from barbican.org.uk
buy buy buy!
Sweeeeet. Wrong time of the month to be purchasing £25 tickets tho...
Bit more info about the above from their site...
| quote: | To
celebrate the release of our brand new live album and film Performing Parades, we have confirmed a concert on 28 October at
the Barbican Hall in London in which we will perform our album Parades (2007) with The Britten Sinfonia. The
orchestra previously teamed up with us at this year’s fuseleeds09 festival for a performance we will never forget. We look so much forward to play
with Britten Sinfonia again!
The show coincides with the release of our Performing Parades CD/DVD and LP/DVD that feature our performance of Parades in
Copenhagen last September, with The Danish National Chamber Orchestra. The 55-minute film is directed by Benjamin Hesselholdt, and is
accompanied by an audio CD/LP of the full concert.
The DVD will be stuffed full of extras, including a behind the scenes documentary (made by Ralf Christensen and Anders Bötter) of the preparations for
the event, and all the videos made for tracks from Parades.
Performing Parades will be released on October 19. |
Anyone within striking distance should definitely go to this, the same performance in Leeds this April was incredible.

They're playing at the End of the Road Festival in September and I'm really looking forward to seeing them - are they likely to play Parades in its
entirety or is that reserved for their own shows only when they can use full orchestration? If not, which I presume, are they likely to play just some
of the tracks from Parades?

Anyone go to the London gig last night?
Truly amazing!
I was there. Was pretty damn fantastic I thought. Really enjoyed Jaga Jazzist too, was a great night.
I was also there, it was really cool. I especially liked the encore, and Cutting Ice to Snow.
Cutting ice to snow was brilliant. Can see them going in a more , dare i say it, poppier direction with the new album judging by the encore. Excellent
stuff...
Jaga Jazzist where great! wasn't expecting that...

Gosh it has been a long time since I posted. Anyhow, Efterklang is fantastic. I still have one of their handmade ep's from when it just came out
(2003?). I found them on a whim somehow and have been a huge fan ever since. They even sent a hand written thank you note since I went through the
trouble of paying extra money just to get it sent to the U.S.
I haven't had a chance to see them live (bands do not come around South Dakota too often) but I'm keeping an eye out for their next tour. Glad to
see some new listeners out there.
We have met the enemy and he is us.
Haha, Efterklang were so rock 'n' roll in Manchester tonight. The Halloween crowd were really rowdy and appreciative, the scary masks were great,
the set was brilliant and intense.
I love this band.
hy, you can listen and download the new song "modern drift" on the efterklang homepage: www.efterklang.net. its a great song!!
