no more of this band for me..thanks. The last album was too much of a laugh.
one thing i am looking forward to see is the " we wanna sound so indie so let's force it with a very stupid album title that means nothing at all "
thing. Laughing is always good i guess.
I beg to disagree with you Chantale. I think that just like SR, múm have matured without loosing their essence. finally breaking off
their shell and letting things flow without fearing what others might think. and that's what artists do as they evolve.
as for the title, I think is just a nerdy, catchy pun. suggesting the listener who has enjoyed their colorful confections to "go around and share the
music." and why not? their stuff is so rich with flavor, like a ripen summer fruit that leaves you craving for more.

A darker album for the winter, maybe, fingers crossed...
yes but, didn't they already do that with summer make good? and after the closer winter what we never were after all I
doubt they'll go that way again. but who knows? only time can tell what's going to happen next.
in any event, this is certainly good news. they just keep on getting better and better with the years. I hope to be pleasantly surprised beyond my
expectations with another doses of their music. :)

Good point, I'd not thought about that title like that before. Múm are anything but dull and predictable anyways. It'll be something wonderful, as
always I'm sure.
Either way, I'm looking forward to watching you deciphering the lyrics again :)
can you please explain what you mean by "winter what we never were afterall" or someting ? did I miss a cd ? or is that part of the lyrics of some
song ?
God, I hope this is some kind of hoax, but I've got a horrible feeling it isn't...
It looks very much like Örvar from Múm has just posted the following on their forum:-
Title - múm is breaking up :(.......
it's my deep regret to inform you are fans, that we will be taking a break for quite a while. the reason being:
[then long article posted on Iceland going bankrupt]

'for quite a while' - I really don't like the sound of that, especially when it seemed a new album was very close. I don't really understand why,
either. Maybe I'm being somewhat naïve, but how can this crisis stop music?
And incidentally, why would he join up (that member has 1 post) just to say that, and not mention it in the 'news' section of the main website?
Seems like the kind of thing they'd mention there first, no?

I think alot of Icelandic artists feel very much in tune with their country and consequently the economic crash and subsequent Russian proclamation
that Iceland has many resources they want to "tap" is scaring the shit out of and depressing many people there and elsewhere too.

Yeah didn't look very likely. As Pees said the poster only had one post and it's a strange place to post such news. Those Múm message boarders sure
are a gullible lot.
Don't bother reading this it will just hurt your eyes
Not really on topic, but hardly worth a new thread either...

It's 47mins, and actually pretty good in an unbelievably cheesy party-party kind of way :p
i downloaded it earlier on today and am listening to it now - it's really fun and unpredictable. plus the bit where they mix mark morrison with
countryside accordion music is hilarious :D thanks!
What about the voice of geddy lee? How did it get so high? I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy?
I just found this this record... it's called "múm and sjón"
quote:
These 5 tracks are taken from the electronic ópera “Kisa”, scored by múm. “Kisa” is performed by múm, mezzo-soprano Ása Junius, a string quartet and
actress Vala Þórsdottir who also directed the piece. Poet Sjón wrote the lyrics.
Apparently the album was released in 2000 by Kitchen Motors but it just appeared in a lot of people's libraries recently... I'd never heard of it
before yesterday.
edit: the record also features Apparat Organ Quartet and
Big Band Brútal.
^ Some of it's on Friends Of The Random Summer, if I remember correctly.
edit: it’s the MotorLab #2 album, you’ve probably got the Múm & Sjón tracks already on the Random Summer compilation (CD2):-
1. Overture
2. She introduces herself
3. She listens to her heart
4. She attempts to say the ‘word’
5. She begins her education (early version of Green Grass of Tunnel)
Thanks for reminding me of this though, I listened to it on a snowy and atmospheric bus ride to work this morning – I'd forgotten how good it is.
