hvarf heim album cover

hvarf

heim

hmm
interesting, although at first sight they aren't really SR-like
does this mean they will come out as separate albums rather than as a double cd?
and who's handwriting is that on the hvarf cover?
|
|
|
lovely. i like.
it is haunting. ooooh.
''Hvað er sálarþroski? Það er að vera móttækilegur fyrir þeim straumum sem eru altíkríngum okkur frá góðum hjálpfúsum vinum. Við verðum að

|
|

Lovely. I cant wait for these to arrive, just before my birthday as well :)
|
|
|
god, i can't wait till november...
i love the both of the covers, but the hvarf cover is really beautiful, i think.

☆____☆
pretty cool, it's the first time they use pictures that are not as heavily tweaked as the von cover or the untitled #1 cd cover ... plus it's a full
picture, not a cut up one ... (or am i wrong about the first time thing ?)
i love it ... ! the hvarf cover reminds me of a still of one of those 8mm home videos ... ◎_◎

Flow has stars in his eyes XD
I love them both, probably the heim one more....but I have to admit, they're not what I expected (which isn't a bad thing, I was thinking maybe
something stencil-y or sort of...SR-y), but I imagine they'll suit the music. All be good anyway ^_^

loving the heim cover. reminds me of the nin year zero cover, which is a good thing.
and yeah the fingerprint is hella cool xD
|

They're fine, but they didn't really impress me.

Heim really captures that pre-gig unrest. Lights on, people moving around. Hvarf is sweet too, though for my taste, the fingerprints are a bit too
clear. Should've been more, uh, smudgy?
I definitely dig them both, though.

Heim is the acoustic one right? The cover makes sense if so

Out of curiosity, why? At first I wasn't too keen on them because they didn't feel like something I'd associate with Sigur Ros, but they've kinda
grown on me now.

yep. the cover photo is from gamla borg, where you will see the band perform an acoustic version of von in the "heima" movie.

as for me, there is no particular reason. i just don't like them.

the "hvarf" picture is from the small hill just outside the studio, isn't it? i remember once running up these steps (but i can't recall the
trees...)

yep. it used to be a popular outdoor grass about 100 years ago.

...the covers blend into mediocrity for me, they are not hideous or anything and as pictures are nice, but just not brilliant covers...

Von, Salka, Í Gær, Hjómalind. That's, count 'em, four. Did they throw on Hafsól too, as the music player seems to suggest?

my dad is pretty old school and keeps all the family photos in a cowboy boot box, there aren't many really and they're way old. When I see these
album covers there is a soft nostalgia stirred within me because they look so much like the shots in my dad's boot box - faded and marked as they
are. In addition, I don't recognize these so they bring about a sort of wistful regret, as if I'm missing someone or someplace and am almost
remembering them but not quite.
On the whole I'd say I really like these covers though they're a wee bit lonely.
Thanks for posting them D.

yeah i get the same impression. jónsi is currently obsessed with old photographs so it would make sense that he wanted to achieve that nostalgic feel.

yes.. I like that too! The photos has to be polaroids.. because you get that kind of fingerprints when the emulsion is still wet.
I love the two cover-photos... it has that special polaroid-colour and touch.. and even though I adore the Takk-ish screen and handdrawn kind of
style on their latter albums... I was getting slightly up-to-here with that graphical concept..
Typical S.R they move on just before you get tired of them... and it is amazing that they manage to create new stuff with the same old set of
guys.
This is what I call GOOD evolution!
