good evening and welcome to the canterbury arms for breaking hearts for fun V. that’s as many bhff’s as there were rocky films, so we must be doing something right. as usual, thank you very much to those who came along in july, especially those who engineered the impromptu flaming lips encore. we hope the club gives you as much pleasure as you give to the club.

breaking hearts for fun ventured into europe earlier this month for the benicassim festival. during a glorious week of sun, sand, sea, tortilla and jack daniels, which confirmed brian wilson as a genius and morrissey as awkward as ever, we made many new friends and cemented a true anglo-spanish bond. a review with photos and remarks will be on our website (www.breakingheartsforfun.co.uk) soon.

“sweet-ness, i was only joking”

you may have noticed bhff’s sweet tooth in the past, where we’ve always tried to lavish you with nostalgic confectionary. unfortunately, last month, some idiot who will remain nameless (because we all know it was james) went out and bought chocolate during brixton’s first tropical heat wave in years, and you can guess the rest. tonight we’ve gone for a far more efficient approach – there’s jelly babies about.

“it’s a good day for fly(er)ing”

do you like standing outside gigs in the cold being ignored? would you mind being ripped off by the photocopy shop in hammersmith? or do you just want to be one of the breaking hearts faces? if yes, then help bhff flyer various events and email us (breakingheartsforfun@gmail.com). there is no fee to negotiate. any profits made from the club still go to finance our various vices. mainly sam’s gambling addiction and richard’s ebay addiction.

“september’s not so far away”

we’ve had to bring next month’s date forward by a single day due to unforeseen circumstances (it’s been moved for live sky tv coverage), so breaking hearts for fun VI will now come to life on friday september 24th at the usual time. no blue jeans.
