breaking hearts for fun – friday 23rd july

“i want to see all my friends tonight”

welcome friends, old and new, to breaking hearts for fun iv. a thousand thankyous to everyone who has come this evening, and a thousand more to those who did the same last month – it was a belter. what we lacked in numbers, we blew away in atmosphere. here’s to more of the same…

“your cover’s blown”

those of you fortunate enough to turn up tonight before the pubs have shut, will be privy to an hour of indie covers from james. that’s our dj, not the band. as bhff have stated elsewhere, it’s a shamelessly stolen idea, but, hell, why not? frankie bennett’s version of ‘creep’ will keep the doorman happy until christmas…

“romper corazones”

as earmarked in earlier issues, the bhff squad are heading to spain next weekend for the benicassim festival. now…keep it hush hush…we’re planning an impromptu breaking hearts for fun one night in our hotel, with no regard for curfew. that’ll be free entry, free drink, great music off an ipod and a laptop, and it will all end abruptly at 5am when paul bhff throws a television out of the window. ask the gang for details.
alternatively, for those staying in blighty, the paperboy is going to the truck festival in oxfordshire. you’re all more than welcome to gather around his walkman and share a
curlywurly.

“reading, writing and arithmetic”

next breaking hearts for fun on home soil lands on saturday the 21st of august. a slight rearrangement from a week later, so we can take in the saturday of the reading festival and get messy with morrissey, the libertines and franz ferdinand. both promise excitement, especially if fulham, qpr and leeds have put points on the board by then.

“must I paint you a picture”

we all got somewhat camera shy at our july fixture, and visitors to our website (www.breakingheartsforfun.co.uk) will have noticed the absence of any photographic evidence of bhff iii. so, for the sake of continuity and the sacrifice of art, we will be displaying our own hand drawn memories. feel free to join in and send us a picture of how you remember that summer night. it will be just like art beat. only without morph.

“and finally…”

enjoy yourself this evening. by all means have a drink and a dance, a kiss and a cuddle. just don’t fall asleep on the hand dryer in the gents…

keep the faith,
bhff x
